I was wonder when items are displayed  in a table like manner; this is a function to sort or group them?

    SharePoint list Item can be sorted using a CAML query. Site data can also be sorted via a CAML query or by the DataTable. In each case you will have manually wire up the sorting logic from your html to  your Data Zoom script. This can be done with Querystring or Post variables.
