Sending alerts to external email addresses

Hi,

I have a situation where a user may not want to receive alerts through their usual email address as provided by the AD properties. Indeed, a user may not have an email address imported into their SharePoint profile.

I would like the ability for the user, when adding alerts, to be able to specify any email address, i.e. a private address maybe that will get sent to hotmail for example.

Currently Sharepoint only allows the population of email recipients that exists in AD. I would like them to be able to select any email address.

Would your alert manager product facilitate this?
