Cannot open "alertmanagercore.en-US.resx"

The file name from the subject of this post does not exist in the core folder on our server. The subject of this post is a log entry from our WSS sharepoint server which has stopped sending alerts. In the folder in question are three files

  • alertmanagercore.resx
  • core.en-US.resx
  • core.resx

Has anyone encountered log entries such as this after alerts have stopped flowing?

Thanks!

Some older versions of Alert Manager did not explicitly include the locale specific resource file alertmanagercore.en-US.resx. However, this should not keep alerts from being sent as it should refer back to alertmanagercore.resx when it cannot find the local specific file. But the error message will be logged if it is missing.

You can keep this error message from appearing in your log files by creating a copy of alertmanagercore.resx and rename it to alertmanagercore.en-US.resx in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\Resources and then run the following command to copy the resource files to the web application's virtual directories:

    stsadm -o copyappbincontent

Later builds include the locale specific US english version of the resource file(s), specifically to avoid this error.
