Customizing the Resulting Emails from Joining

Hello Jeremy,

Is there a variable that can be used to alter the URL that gets embedded into the 'Registration Success' email. In particular, this one: {SiteUrl}. We have two URLs that link to the same content but would like the URL to be the FBA site. We are thinking that in the future with a proliferation of sites, an easier way to maintain these URLs that are to be embedded (rather than manually altering the body of the email definitions).

Regards,

Steve

Unfortunately there is no easier way in this version to update the registration success URLs across a large number of sites. In the next version we are putting a lot of effort into improving the capabilities of mail message customization. The next version is scheduled to be released in Q4 or this year. Any custom with an up-to-date support agreement will be able to upgrade to this version without charge. Keep your eyes out for an upcoming beta.

    Hello Jeremy,

is there a variable that we can use anyway? Our site is https://site.a.b.c (internal) and our EXCM site is https://extsite.a.b.c (external). Registration emails reference the internal site not the external site confusing users and making their first login fail.

     Regards,

    Steve

Unfortunately there is no token which will provide the URL address of an alternate zone. This operation will be supported in the next version of the ExCM product. Please edit the HTML message to provide this behavior in the current version.

    Hello,

Is there any way to change the default HTML email reply messages for when a user is invited to use a site and when they have successfully registered?  We have changed it at the top level of a site collection but then if a sub-site is created and someone is invited, this will use the old HTML message as a default.  We therefore have to go through every single site changing the settings for the email messages, is there a way around this?

    Thanks

You can change the message for new sites by editing the delcore.resx file found in the SharePoint 12 Hive at '12\Resources\delcore.resx'. However, there is no simple way to edit all of the sub-site html messages through the UI. Certainly this would be a simple programming tasks but would require a developer. Again, we are focusing our effort to improve this functionality for the next version. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hello,

I editing the text in the delcore.resx file but this did not work.  I tried inviting a user but the additional text was not in the email message?

Do you know what could have caused this?

    Thanks

    Rebecca.

When you make changes to the delcore.resx and/or delcore.en-US.resx files the changes will only show up when you create new sites. If you would like to change the e-mail messages of a current site all you need to do is go to Site Actions -> Delegation Settings -> Modify All Delegation Settings -> Delegation Mail Definitions. This process is outlined in the help document below.

    http://help.sharepointsolutions.com/products/excm/webframe.html?Configuration_Emails.html

If you upgraded ExCM and would like to begin using the new definitions you will need to deactivate/activate the Delegation Web Components site feature. This will archive any of the old list definitions and add the new definitions to the Mail Definitions list. This is mentioned in the Additional Considerations section of the Upgrading ExCM help document below...

What if you deactivate/reacitvate the feature?  Will that re-pull from the resx file?  Also, do you need an iisreset to get the changes?

Yes, if you deactivate/activate the Delegation Web Components feature the e-mail definition list items will be recreated with the values from the delcore.resx file. An IISRESET is not needed for the changes to take effect.

I found the IIS reset was necessary.  Im on Server 2008/IIS7

    Hi Jeremy,

Did this feature ever get added or released?

We are after the custom url field as described above - one for the external site rather always listing the internal site in registration emails.

You mention Q4 2010 which is now .

    thanks
